A hot and cold air conditioning system extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that your fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can extract heat from the air outside even when the temperature is as low as -15° C.
The efficiency of hot and cold air conditioning system is measured by a coefficient of performance (CoP) - the amount of heat they generate compared to the amount of electricity needed to run them. A good quality air conditioning system can have a CoP of around 3 to 1.
(Which means you can transfer 3 kilowatts of heat for 1 kilowatt of electricity).
What do I Need ?
The requirements for an Air Conditioning system on the Costa Blanca will vary between each application and property. consideration must be made on the area of the room, numbers of windows and lights, number of occupants, induced heat through solar gain and equipment within the room to name but a few.
This is why Air Comfort offer a free site survey, collate all the information and together with yourselves come up with the best solution to fit your requirements. At this point we will offer you a quotation for an installation detailing our recommendations and costs. We offer a choice of systems from major manufacturers in the present market which include: Fujitsu, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Hiyasu, LG and Daitsu.

On the same principle a you refrigerator but it is split into two parts. The interior unit acting like the cold plate inside the refrigerator, and the exterior unit acting like the warm pipes on the back. Heat is transferred between the two units using a compressor to circulate a refrigerant.
Air conditioning units transfer heat between the two units and you pay for the electricity used to do this. Typical values in cooling for the coefficient of performance (COP) are around 2.5 to 1 which means you can transfer 2.5 kilowatts of heat for 1 kilowatt of electricity. In heating the typical coefficient of performance (COP) values could be 3 to 1 or more. ( electricity is around 10.5 cents per kilowatt)
No. The air in your room is recirculated though the interior unit where it is passes though filters and a heat exchanger / coil that heats or cools the air.
Yes. There are a number of different ways of doing this but they have to be designed into the system from the start
This is the term given to a system that is split into two parts interior and exterior unit. (unlike a portable unit).
This is where more than one interior unit are piped separately to one exterior unit.(usually between two and four units).
The inverter is an electronic device that changes the frequency of the electricity supplied to the compressor motor. This gives it speed control linked to its output requirements. Using an inverter also allows the compressor motor to “soft start” which eliminates start up power surge and allows it to run at slower speeds instead of stopping and starting. This greatly increases the life expectancy of the system. Inverter systems are around 40% more efficient than the conventional stop/start systems.
Yearly preventative maintenance is a wise thing to do. Maintaining your system will save you money on your electricity bills and help your system perform efficiently. A maintained system also lasts longer which is important due to the expense of replacement. Air conditioning is best checked in the Spring.
The price of air-conditioning units are now more reasonably priced . As a guideline a single system that could be suitable for a bedroom can be purchased and fully installed from as little as 585,00 euros. This is only an indication and a great deal depends on room size, the individuals requirements and which manufacturers products are selected.
In most conditions, a single unit could be installed within a few hours, or a multi- split unit in less than a day.
All with the least amount of disruption.
